New Music: John Mayer – “Love on the Weekend”

Spread the love

In 1992, the Cure’s lead singer Robert Smith proclaimed that it was Friday when he was in love. In 2016, John Mayer does that shit for three days.

Mayer is back with “Love on the Weekend,” his first original single since 2013’s “Who You Love” from Paradise Valley. This is a country-tinged soft-rock joint in which Mayer croons, “It’s a Friday, we finally made it / I can’t believe I get to see your face.” Mayer doesn’t work a weekday 9-to-5, so that doesn’t make any sense.
